Decline of Pizza Hut

Alright, so it is review time.

I had won some Pizza Hut coupons in a PJ contest and wanted to utilize them. Every time, I asked the store near my residence for delivery, they never identified the coupons. The delivery boy asked me to dine in and use the coupons there. So, when I was at Brigade Road two consecutive noons, I decided to make good use of the coupons.

The first time I visited PH was with my computer trainer some 8 years ago. She had landed a good job and treated us at PH, Brigade Road. Before that I had had pizzas only a couple of times and thought it was alright. But after that, I became a big fan of PH. Back then, there was only one other PH outlet at Cunningham road. I would religiously visit PH at least once every two months and order for Country Feast. I thought a meal for two was quite expensive at 400 bucks. Comparatively, Pizza Corner was much cheaper, so was the taste.

I really liked the service. Since the waiters knew I was a regular, they'd scribble some good wishes, happy notes on the bill. The ambience was great, atmosphere was relaxed and friends and families would enjoy alike. The music they played was rocking too. If someone was celebrating a birthday, they'd all assemble at the table, sing and sometimes give birthday bumps too. I was one of the firsts to try their stuffed crust pizza. Until the year before the last, all my Rakshabandhans have been at PH. Every waiter that passed the table would smile and wish.

Now, things have changed. PH got competition, they reduced the price of pizzas and their service has gone for a toss. On both afternoons, I noticed the plates and knives were not clean, I had to send it back. The table wasn't clean either. Although, the pizza tasted good, there was no personal touch. When we rang the bell indicating we had a good time, there was no one to scream 'Thank you'.

When we order pizza at home, the call attendant asks us to get extra sauce and oregano from the delivery boy. The delivery boy says he has none extra. The last time I called them and asked them if they accept these coupons, they refused and banged the phone down.

I am sure I will not visit pizza hut as often. Even for home delivery, PH would be my last resort. I am really sad.
